Bing gives Microsoft bounce - Business First of Columbus:

Internet traffic tracking firm says Microsofr sites increased daily penetrationamong U.S. searcheras from 13.8 percent during the week of May 26to 15.5 percenf during the week of June 2, the week of Bing’as public launch. Microsoft’s share of search result pagee inthe U.S. – what comScore callxs a proxy for overall searchhintensity – rose from 9.1 percent to 11.1 percent durinyg the same period. “These initiapl data suggest that Microsoft Bing has generatedcearly interest, resulting in a spike in searcuh engagement and an immediat term improvement to Microsoft’s position in the searchu market, comScore senior vice presidenr Mike Hurt said in a statement.
“Sk far it appears that the lifts in searche penetration and engagement have held relativel steady throughout the five day While Reston-based comScore (NASDAQ: SCOR) says it remains to be seen if Microsoft’s search gains will continue to grow because of Bing, it also says the new searchj engine “is off to a good Microsoft trails , the number one ranked search by a wide margin. Google accounted for more than 64 percengt ofall U.S. searches in April, three timess second-ranked Yahoo and eight times Microsoft’s share, according to comScore.
