It's official: 15 General Motors dealers in Colorado to lose franchises - Pacific Business News (Honolulu):

It was the first definitive statement of exactlh how many GM dealers in the state were informed thay will lose their franchisr agreementsin 2010. The Colorad o Automobile Dealers Association previously had estimated the numbe at 13 to 15 basedc on reportsfrom dealers. GM still is not releasing the namesz ofthe 1,323 dealers it plans to drop nationwide, includinv the 15 in Colorado. The information came in a list releasex by the House Energyt andCommerce Committee's Subcommittee on Oversigh t and Investigations, based on information providedf by GM. Executives of GM and Chrysler, which plands to shed 14 Colorado dealers, testifiedr before Congress about their dealerplans Friday.
GM's car lines includre Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, GMC, Saab, Saturn and It has some 6,000 dealershipsd nationwide. Letters sent in mid-May to GM dealerx the company plannedto drop, a copy of which was obtained by the Denver Business Journal, said the automaker reviewed each of its sales volume, profitability, capitalization, location and facilities alont with other "market patterns." . "Based on our reviea and current and foreseeable market conditions andyour dealership's historica l performance, we do not see that GM can have a productivde business relationship with [name of dealership] over the long term," said the dated May 14.
Abourt 92 of Colorado's 264 auto dealerships sell one or more GM said Tim Jackson of the state autodealerws group. Additional dealers may lose theirrfranchises later, GM has said.
