CAD in an acronym for computer-aided design. Immersionj has several business lines with productsz developed for applications ranging from gaming tomedicapl uses. Revware president Tom Welsh said that his companhy has been using MicroScribe products for 15 years and when he saw that Immersiohn was looking to sell he jumped onthe opportunity. “Wd are going to be able to focus on MicroScribe in a way that Immersionh was notable to,” Welsh said. Revware was formerlt known as , a company that was a software developer as well as a resellet of the SolidWorksCAD software.
The company grew in the 1990s alongv with the technology bubble and in Design Automation made TriangleeBusiness Journal’s annual ranking of the 50 fastest-growing companies in the Raleigh-Durha area. Welsh said Design Automation, whic h peaked at 15 employees, had pared down sinc the technologybubble burst. Revware has fewer than five employees. Welsh said with the acquisitionof MicroScribe, the compan will grow in Raleigh and on the West But he declined to elaborate, saying that negotiationws are still under way.
